The mudslinging is well under way.
Bethany Frankel, the former real wives star and her soon to be ex Jason Hoppy are well into an ugly and painful divorce. And the accusations are flying.
It’s actually been pretty tense for months. Back in September Hoppy made the statement that he had been used as a “sperm donor” in a deceitful ploy to fulfill Bethany’s desire for a child. Oddly enough they were still living together at the time. Yet Bethany went ahead and filed papers for custody and began to push for it in court.
Rumor has it that move has pushed Jason over the edge. In a statement by one of his people back in September an outlandish tone suggested that Jason would never walk away from his daughter. He is described in the press as a doting dad.

Due to the custody battle, which has covered everything from time spent with each parent to the dietary requirements of their daughter Brynn, they were unable to settle the case amicably and have moved to go to trial. According to the news reports Hoppy did initially file for sole custody also in response to Frankels move. But then recanted and asked for an amicable solution that was good for both parties. Frankel did not sign.
There were even supposed recordings made by Hoppy of Bethany, the nanny, and other employees of the Skinny Girl business, Bethany’s line of food and cocktail mixers. They were ordered to be turned over by a judge, who also cautioned that the recordings cease immediately. No word yet on what was in them.
More recently Bethany has been making statements about dating and re-marrying. She says it’s too soon to talk about either seriously, but she is dating again and her new beau has been attending tapings of her show. Although she did liken the experience of getting back into a relationship to food poisoning, and suggested that after you have had it you may think you want to eat again but you just can’t! Hope the new beau missed that comment.
She has become so vocal about her troubles that apparently even Ellen DeGeneres has told her to stop blabbing about it! DeGeneres is the producer of Frankel’s talk show. Apparently the ratings dip when Bethany starts talking trash about her ex. Even her fans are unclear as to why she broke up with Hoppy and they turn the channel when she starts in on what a hard time she is having.
Luckily for most of you your divorce drama won’t play out in the press for the whole world to read and judge you on. But that does not mean it won’t play out in your own social circles and hurt your reputation. In fact, even in the best of divorce circumstances you are likely to have some really painful moments.
As human beings we get emotional and our feelings get hurt. Not to mention most people enter into relationships with the idea that they can love and trust the other person and don’t anticipate things coming to a bitter end, any more than they expect the person they were once in love with to become an evil tyrant out to hurt them. But it happens often and in our world it is not really preventable.
Frankel and Hoppy court case is going on now.Wisely they both sought good counsel and are doing this by the book. We wish them luck in finding a solution to their problems.
